Lee Roy Selmon's story combines football scholarship for his parents and a commitment to the community. The first time Selmon was born with Lucious Semon and his wife Jessie. They lived on a farm near Eufala within Oklahoma as the eldest of the nine children they had. The Selmons were also among the three siblings who represented Oklahoma on the field of football. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the top offensive lineman in country by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. During his three-year tenure as Oklahoma's starting quarterback, the Sooners went 32-1-1 and captured two national titles. Selmon was honored when the National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon graduated with a degree from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the college. After graduation, he landed in Tampa played nine years with the Buccaneers played all-pro three times and started his business career. By 1988 he had become an Account Relation Officer at Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked on the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of the most notable young males. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and weighed about 256 pounds. He was captain of his college team in 1975. He joined his current position at University of South Florida as an associate director of athletics. He has been inducted in the College Football Hall of Fame since 1988. His parents, Lucious and Mary Selmon Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation. The award was presented by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
