Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington has been a Greek American columnist, author and entrepreneur for more than twenty years. She co-founded The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington, an independently-owned liberal news website and a television host, author, and charitable donor. Born in Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England with her family at the age of 16. In Cambridge University she earned a MA degree in Economics. The famous debating society The Cambridge Union was her first time as president, and she held it when she was 21. Being a conservative syndicated blog following her graduation, she became a voice of the Huffington Post. The fame of Arianna helped to attract several prominent contributors to share their opinions on the news as well as politics and culture. Arianna's celebrity status was first noticed in 2003 when she was a candidate for an independent in the California recall election to succeed then-Governor Davis. Alongside this, she directed a Detroit initiative to encourage vehicles that are fuel efficient. Forbes placed her at 12 on their list of the Top Influential Media Women. Guardian also included the Huffington Post in their list of the top 100 in 2010. AOL Inc. acquired The Huffington Post, and she became president of the media company. The acquisition included a number of AOL products at the time such as Engadget AOL style list and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and his wife Elli Stasinopoulos. They were very close to her father, but it was her relationship with her mother who formed her. Through her early years, she exhibited abilities to lead, and for this her name is still well-known. She moved to England at sixteen to further her studies and then enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. In her time at college, she joined the debating group Cambridge Union where she became the first foreign president and was also the third female president. Her graduation was in 1972 and she earned a Master's Degree in Economics. In the years following the graduation ceremony, she worked as a journalist and TV host. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using his editorial assistance.
